On this day in 1876, Dame Agnes Weston’s Royal Sailors’ Rests officially opened its first Rest, and began providing services and support to Sailors, Marines, and their families. The charity has adjusted its methods and objectives with the times, but it continues to deliver assistance and support.
To commemorate this landmark we will be looking back over the changing years of Aggie's, in our next issue of Ashore & Afloat, and tomorrow we will be announcing the winner of our competition with the Royal Maritime Club Hotel. Keep an eye on our social media here!
We would like to thank all of our staff for their hard work over the years, living out the vision and mission of Aggie's. We would also like to thank our supporters for their continued generosity, prayers and kindness. We look forward to many more years providing support for the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and their families: “For the Glory of God and the good of the Service”.
